The first 15 days
After 4 years of preparation she is finally on her way on the 4th of
July. Around 10 pm she started together with almost 40 kayaks that
followed her out to the ocean. Even if the weather was perfect she decided
to take a short day and was spent the night at Bainbridge Island.

After two good days, Renata waked up hearing the rain on the tent. When
starting to pack the stuff, she realized that the rain was the least of
the problems. Since she has camped on the beach there where sand
everywhere. She has to wait for a sunny day to get rid of all the sand.
After 31 kilometers she arrived to Port Townsend at 4 pm and was quite
happy with the day,
When leaving Port Townsend, she saw seals, sea utters and a white
headed eagle. It continued like that during the day and when passing
Preservation Island it made her feels like being in a zoo. On Renata's
10th day, she made her best day so far with 49 kilometers. She didn't
expect that she could cover such a distance at such an early stage, but
she felt pretty ok.

The 12th of July Renata passed on of sections that she has been a bit
worried about. She rounded Cape Flattery. It was a fairly rough ride with
swells around 3 feet.
The last couple of days have been good and she has also tried her
inlines. When the weather report mentioned that the swells would be almost
7.5 feet, she decided for the inlines. It took around one hour to assemble
the trailer, including some initial mistakes, and after the first steps
she found her rhythm and was back on track again. Her skating raised quite
a few eyebrows in Tahola and it didn't take more that 20 minutes before
she was stopped by a police car, curious on what she was doing.

In a couple of days she will be leaving the Evergreens State and enter
Oregon by crossing the Columbia River.
