The World Ski Test of 2008/09 years skis

Early April, the test team for 2008/09 years skis arrived to Zell and See in Austria for three days of tests.

The test team consisted of a mix of normal skiers as ourselfs at SportsGearGuide.com up to actual and former World Cup skiers like the test leader Franz Klammer (in the middle) and ...

There were around 10 different pair of skis in each test category, and the categories were:

Mens Slalom
Womens Slalom
Allround
Cross
Twin tip
Youth slalom
Youth twin tips

All skis of all categories are neutralized by black color. The assignment and the change of skis take place in a blocked area, whereby neutral service men and assistants will support the testers in changing the skis and adjusting the bindings. This area is only reserved to participants of the AustriaSkitest WorldSkitest. How does the evaluation of the skis work: the testers place points from 1 to 10, highest score being 10.

Test criteria: long turn, short turn, edge grip, running stability and overall strength requirement

After each round with a pair of test skis, a test form was filled in and left to the secretariat.

Here, in front of the secretariat, you can see the Olymic winner Fritz Strobl in green helmet. Karin Huttary from the Salomon cross team in turquoise jacket, and many many more.

The test was performed in a blue and red slope, which was specially prepared and blocked only for the test skiers. (Slope to the left)
