LOWE ALPINE - Lowe Alpine eVENT® Fabrics launch gathers momentum
Lowe Alpine is releasing early results from its field-test program, and launching its Fall 03 line of eVENT® fabric garments.
The field-test program with journalists and store employees is showing interesting results. “The overwhelming feedback is that eVENT® fabric gives better comfort and breathability than anything they’ve tested before” says Clive Allen, Lowe Alpine’s International Marketing Manager. “We’ve genuinely got people very excited, as some of the comments show.”
Next step is the consumer field-test program, starting from March. Thousands of consumers have already applied to test Lowe Alpine’s eVENT® garments.
Lowe Alpine’s Fall 03 line features 8 new eVENT® garment styles plus accessories. The avant-garde designs and colors guarantee that these garments will excite interest in any store. Dealers launching the new line will access Lowe Alpine’s comprehensive eVENT® promotional program.
Vistors to the ISPO show in Munich will get the chance to try Lowe Alpine’s event garments on the ice wall in Hall B5. Lowe Alpine and eVENT are joint sponsors of the 8m-high ice wall, which gives all visitors the chance to try ice climbing in an indoor environment.

Phase 1 – Journalists, store employees - Selected comments
“Breathability better than any waterproof shell I have used before”
“Impressive! given that this is not a biking jacket. I felt comfortable throughout my ride”
“I wouldn't normally choose to go biking in a waterproof jacket… I was impressed by how well the jacket breathed as I did not find myself overheating.”
“I thought it performed better than my usual standard GoreTex mountain bike shell jacket.”
“Much better than Paclite and XCR I've tested”
“Ordinarily I am very sweaty when active but I can honestly say that I didn’t realize I was wearing a jacket/layer let alone a waterproof one!”
“Extreme conditions & yery hard work yet still dry inside”
“I wouldn't normally bother running in a technical garment, but for the sake of testing I did. After 40 minutes of medium-paced road running in cold, dry conditions, I was as dry as I'd expect to be using a breathable wind-shell. Very impressed.”
“Kept jacket on for full ascent when normally I would have removed shell. Very good first impressions”
“The breathability was surely better than in the 2 layer GTX jacket that I normally use”
“Usually, even in my XCR I feel wet patches when I first take my backpack off, was very pleased to have no moisture at all inside the jacket. V V pleased.”
“Very good, better than Paclite or XCR”
“I have worn and tested a huge number of fabrics in my time, but I have never worn anything as impressive as the new Event fabric. It's instantly comfortable and was able to cope with the most demanding conditions and use. Congratulations Lowe Alpine, this fabric will be pretty hard to beat!”
“Very good, more like a windproof rather than a waterproof.”
“Did not have all vents open and still had great breathability”
“Very dry inside afterwards, did not notice any moisture at all”
“Never opened the vents on side after 1+ hours of hard work!”
“In comparison to my Gore-Tex parka the breathability was extraordinary. I would usually be feeling rather confined and clammy in my Gore-Tex but Event fabric far outperformed my expectations this time”
“I'm amazed. I was wearing a mid-weight fleece and my eVolution jacket and after 3 hours running around town in the rain, the jacket didn't wet out once, or make me clammy.”
“Hours of sweaty work and I was dry when previously I would have been damp. Excellent”
“Would normally be damp inside jacket by the time I got to the bottom of the run. This comparison is made with my Patagonia essential jacket.”
“Wow! I've never been walking in a jacket that has breathed this well!”
“Top breathability, better than Goretex XCR”
