During the darkest days of the year, we took the
opportunity to try the new Cosmo from Black Diamond.
Basics about the product
Cosmo has two modes, which are changed via a full click on the
release button. The modes are one SuperBright LED and one-half watt LED.
Each one of these can be switched into 4 light settings, via a half click on
the release button: 3 brightness settings and one strobe illumination.
The pictures below shows the difference between SuperBright LED and one-half
watt LED.
The weight is 80 grams, 2.8 ounces, with batteries.
Impressions
We have been using the lamp both when running and while chopping
wood.
The adjustments made it easy to fit our heads and after some minutes of
running we did not feel that we hade the lamp on our heads.
We preferred the one-half watt LED mode while running. It gave us a good
view of the ground, even out in the forest . The lamp was easy to switch on and off.
A feature that we
used to save power when we where running our normal track with partly
street lights.
The light from the one-half watt LED looked like a light tunnel when we
where choping wood. Switching over to SuperBright LED gave more light in
the surroundings and it was easier to work. A perfect mode when you have
things around you that you are lightening up.
Summary
Cosmo is definitely a lamp that is worth bringing with you. The
flexibility in the light modes made it very convenient to work and
practice with.
