Test the World Championship host of 2005

Santa Caterina is a perfect family resort in the northern part of Italy. Famous for the Women part of the alpine World Championship 2005 and the Nordic World Cup final in 2000. It is placed in the same valley as Livingo, but offers skiing to up to 2735 meters above the sea.
(Photo 1)

The ski center is close to the center. You enter the ski system via the chair lift on the right side. The kids area is on the left side and further to the left you have the nordic skiing center.
(Photo 2)

This is the new gondol lift that is located in the lower parts of the village and takes you up to the top, over it and down into the sunny valley.
(Photo 3)

The slopes are well prepared. Mostly blue and red, without any moguls. We visited Santa Caterina during February and did not see any lift queues.
(Photo 4)

There are two restaurants located close to the blue and red slopes. These restaurants are easy to access from the other lifts, which makes Santa Caterina to a perfect resort for the family.
The photo shows the restaurant closest to the chair lift. The other one is on the left side of this photo.

Both restaurant has a self service area and a real restaurant.

The gondol takes you to the top and down on the other side.

This is the Sunny Valley on a cloudy day. Long blue/red slopes and a fast lift makes this part as perfect place for the family and intermediate skiers on a sunny day.
(Photo 10)

The Nordic ski center has fantastic tracks for both nordic and skate. The World Cup final was arranged in Santa Caterina Valfura year 2000. Flat tourist trail on 7 km and two race tracks on 5 and 10 kilometers.
(Photo 11)

This is a small and cozy village with most of the things within a radius of 150 meters. If you have the opportunity you should stay at a hotel in the center and close to the chair lift.
(Photo 12)

This picture is taken from the bridge. Behind the trees you find the ski center shown in photo 2. The food shop is in the pick house as well as a cafe and one of the sport shops.
(Photo 13)

The tourist is found in the building in the middle on the other side of the bridge.

The kids favourite.

There are a lot of local wines from the vally...

...as well as cheese. The food shop offered us to test both of them.

 - Family *****
Two central restaurants close to the blue and red slopes with platter and easy to access from the other lifts makes Santa Caterina to a perfect resort for the family. For the smaller ones there is also a playground by the chairlift in the village.
- Beginner - Intermediate *****
The blue and red lifts by the restaurants gives you a good opportunity to develop yourself. You can also take the gondola up on the top and down on the other side to reach the Sunny Valley and a long and wonderful blue slope.
- Intermediate - Advanced ****-
Good red slopes in combination with the black World Championship slope gives you a good variation if you prefer a smaller skiing area. We recommend you to buy a ski pass for both Santa Caterina and Bormio, so you can combine the small and cozy resort with the more hectically Bormio.
- Advanced - Expert **---
Santa Caterina is probably not what you are aiming for, but if your friends are on a lower level, you can find satisfaction in the black slope. We recommend you to buy a ski pass for both Santa Caterina and Bormio, so you can combine the small and cozy resort with the more hectically Bormio.
- Off piste skiing
Great areas for off piste skiing, but you need a guide to show you the safe parts. During the spring months there are a lot of touring skiing in the area.
- Park and pipe
No park or pipe.
Nice to know

If you are driving from north you should drive via the Livingo tunnel.
If you are coming from south, drive via Tirano.
