Skiing Sella Ronda

Sella Ronda is a wonderful tour where you are skiing around the Sella mountain during a day. During this tour you are passing Canazei, Arabba, Alta Badia and Val Gardena.

Based on the weather forecast we decided to do our Sella Ronda on a Tuesday. We arranged with the transport from Predazzo and they should pick us at 8 am.
The morning had a thin layer of clouds, but we could see the sun, so we went of to Campitello, which was our start and finish.

Reaching the starting point, we got a great view of Sella. Unfortunately we did not have any sun yet, but what a mountain!
There are two directions, the orange which is clockwise and the green one that is the opposite. We took the green one. The length of them are more and less the same, but the green one is a little bit easier.
The information says that the lifts will take 2 hours and the skiing time is between 1 and 1,5 hours. To these times you need to add the beaks and all lift ques. Saturday says being the best day for making Sella Ronda , due to that this is the changing day for the hotels. If the weather has been bad for some days, you should prepare yourself for longer ques and if you can you should wait one day more.

The tour are well marked with the green and orange directions. If you are skiing in a larger team, make a stop at every split of the slope, to secure that all of you are taking the right direction.

We started with a long nice slope down to the Canazei system before we continued towards Arabba/Marmolada. On the opposite side of the slope we could the long lift that took the “orange” skiers in the opposite direction.

We were surprised about the quality of the slopes around Sella. Some of them are of course more of transport slopes, but most of them were good and long slopes which we enjoyed.

The lift stations are also well marked with the Sella Ronda information.

As we mentioned before we were suprised about the good skiing...

...and the long slopes.

At some places we neeeded to pass the main road in the villages by foot. Here in Val Gardena the slope took us through the houses to the other side of the village. If the weather is warm you probably need to prepare yourself for longer walking here in Val Gardena.

There are a lot of nice restaurants around the tour, but you need to keep track on the time.

The recommendation is that you should have started to pass the last pass at latest 3 pm...

...and there is a risk of disturbing activities.

We were back at the main lift down to Campitello at 4 pm, so plan for a long day. As you also can see the weather changed and we had snow and hard wind during our last hour. Even if the weather looks good, prepare yourself for the worst and bring your goggles.

In summary we recommend you to make this tour. It offered a lot of enjoyable skiing and did also give us a taste of these four different resorts.
