The charming town: Brig Tourismus
At an altitude of 684 metres it has a population of 11500. The name of the attractive town comes originally from the word of bridge. It lies in the heart of the Alps and is easily reachable by train, bus or private vehicle from most of Europe. The centre of the German speaking part of the canton of Valais enjoys a healthy, dry climate. Brig is also of historical value with a unique majestic castle. The town offers approximately 1000 beds in 18 hotels, guest houses and holiday apartments. There are also many restaurants. For congresses and seminars there is the Simplon Hall, the castle, the Alfred Grünwald Hall of the library, the theatre and the parish centre.
From Brig one can make many day trips to see the most famous resorts of the canton. Only 5 minutes from Brig one finds the notable Thermal Baths of Brigerbad.
Rosswald (skiing area)
It lies above Brig at 1800 – 2600 metres on a sunny plateau. From here one can enjoy a breathtaking view of the Rhone valley and see the 4000 metres high Valais and Berneses Alps. In summer the Rosswald can be reached by gondola or private vehicles. There are about 150 chalets and holiday apartments, 1 friendly hotel, 5 hostels, 4 restaurants, shops for food and sport equipment
