Development & future plans
After several years of consideration, Flaine’s global development plan is underway.
It encompasses a huge 4 500-bed project, as well as ambitious public and private amenities programmes (car parks, seasonal accommodation …).
The variety and quality of the projects will satisfy the demands of a modern clientele, whilst strengthening Flaine’s position amongst the large French and International ski resorts.

A large number of improvement projects are planned : replacement or creation of new lifts, enhancing skiers' comfort.

Grand Massif, a big ski area
The Grand Massif ski area boasts a 265 kms of linked and prepared runs, connecting Flaine with the resorts of Les Carroz, Morillon, Samoëns and Sixt Fer-à-Cheval.
The Cascades piste,
a jewel in the crown. Imagine a run 14 kms long, an altitude drop of 1800m down into the village of Sixt Fer à Cheval, wonderful scenery, and never encounter one single ski lift! Start at the top of Les Grandes Platières. From Sixt, a free shuttle bus takes you to the main cable car in Samoëns.

Cross country skiing and snowshoeing
A Nordic area at 1844 m
Le Col de Pierre Carrée (1844 metres) offers the highest cross-country skiing area, with the best snow cover in the Alps.
17 kms of marked tracks for skating and traditional cross-country skiing (free skibus). Ski-passes can be bought on site. Situated 30 mins from Flaine, the Agy area boasts 30 kms of tracks.
