Development & future plans

After several years of consideration, Flaine’s global development plan is underway.

It encompasses a huge 4 500-bed project, as well as ambitious public and private amenities programmes (car parks, seasonal accommodation …).

The variety and quality of the projects will satisfy the demands of a modern clientele, whilst strengthening Flaine’s position amongst the large French and International ski resorts.

- Ski area and lift system
A large number of improvement projects are planned : replacement or creation of new lifts, enhancing skiers' comfort.

Grand Massif, a white ocean ...

Flaine is the gate to one of the biggest ski and snowboard areas in France, aptly named 'Le Grand Massif'. The 133 pistes are all connected, and Flaine is blessed with one of the best snow records in the French Alps. Whether you’re skiing or snowboarding, prefer freeride, freestyle or carving, you’ll enjoy your favourite snowsport in a magnificent setting ...

Grand Massif, a big ski area

The Grand Massif ski area boasts a 265 kms of linked and prepared runs, connecting Flaine with the resorts of Les Carroz, Morillon, Samoëns and Sixt Fer-à-Cheval.

The Cascades piste,

a jewel in the crown. Imagine a run 14 kms long, an altitude drop of 1800m down into the village of Sixt Fer à Cheval, wonderful scenery, and never encounter one single ski lift! Start at the top of Les Grandes Platières. From Sixt, a free shuttle bus takes you to the main cable car in Samoëns.

“Jamparks”
throughout the Grand Massif area are at the disposal of freestylers of all skills and ambitions.

Cross country skiing and snowshoeing

A Nordic area at 1844 m

Le Col de Pierre Carrée (1844 metres) offers the highest cross-country skiing area, with the best snow cover in the Alps.
17 kms of marked tracks for skating and traditional cross-country skiing (free skibus). Ski-passes can be bought on site. Situated 30 mins from Flaine, the Agy area boasts 30 kms of tracks.
