WINTER IN GROSSARLTAL:
"Grossarl Valley" - means skiing fun, nature, snow, relaxation, friendliness and a little piece of home. Even on arrival, visitors will be enchanted by the unspoilt countryside and its inhabitants. While in summer it's relatively quiet, in winter the valley is dedicated to alpine ski sport. Skiers, snowboarders as well as ski mountaineerers, cross country skiers and winter walkers will just love it here.
The village of Grossarl (920 m) is the main resort approx. in the middle of the valley and at the same time starting-point for the Grossarl Valley - Dorfgastein ski circuit, one of the most modern and best extebded ski area in the province of Salzburg, and has won many awards. The start of your skiing fun is dead easy and is almost from centre of the resort.
The former mining community of Hüttschlag (1,020 m) is situated 8 km from Grossarl and has been a part of the Hohe Tauern National Park, the largest National Park in the Alps, since 1991. Thanks to the ski bus service it is well-connected to the ski circuit in Grossarl. Hüttschlag has plenty to offer and attracts cross country skiers, winter walkers and ski tourers.

The Grossarl Valley is renowned for its multitude of mountain huts (alms) open to the public, which give the valley its nickname of "Valley of the Alms". You can experience "hospitality near the heavens" when you stop for refreshment in one of the 40 mountain huts on a walk or bike tour in the Grossarl Valley.
